Ilana Linder is a seasoned attorney based in Cincinnati, Ohio, specializing in consumer protection law with a keen focus on maintaining fairness in the realm of home construction and improvement. With a robust background in civil litigation and contract law, Ilana quickly became a reliable advocate for homeowners, championing the rights of those who have fallen victim to unscrupulous practices within the construction industry.
Recognizing that bad actors can tarnish the reputation of honest and hardworking contractors, Ilana takes a unique approach in her practice. Ilana is not only an advocate for homeowners, but also serves as a legal ally to numerous contractors and builders. Understanding the importance of maintaining a high standard of professionalism, Ilana works diligently to review and update contract documents for her contractor clients, ensuring compliance with Ohio’s legal requirements. By doing so, she aims to shield contractors from potentially costly lawsuits initiated by disgruntled customers, fostering a fair and ethical environment within the industry.
Ilana earned her bachelor’s degree from Tufts University before attending law school at Indiana University Maurer School of Law. While in law school, she served as an articles editor for the Indiana Journal of Law & Social Equality, and was awarded oral advocacy honors while participating in the Sherman Minton Moot Court competition. She also received two “CALI Excellence for the Future Awards” in recognition of her academic accomplishments in philanthropy and nonprofit law. After law school, she earned her Master’s in Educational Leadership and started her (current) Ph.D. in Education Policy program at the IU School of Education.
Ilana has an extensive background in different facets of university administration. She has worked with the Indiana University Foundation and the Eskenazi Museum of Art in charitable gift planning and development capacities, and served as the Academic Policy Fellow for IU Policy Administration for several years. She also served as a legal compliance consultant with the IU Office of Online Education.
She is a regular contributor to the Fraternal Law Newsletter and the Education Law Association’s School Law Reporter and currently serves on the board of directors for the Education Law Association.

Our work frequently involves complex transactions and matters affecting substantial human or financial stakes. We frequently engage in courtroom litigation, as well as administrative and legislative proceedings. While litigation is by nature adversarial, we approach complex problems by remaining flexible to negotiated resolutions. Our combination of skilled advocacy, high quality representation, and flexibility toward negotiated resolutions frequently produces better and more efficient results than can be produced through protracted adversarial proceedings.
In addition, Manley Burke publishes a nationally circulated newsletter entitled Fraternal Law which stems from our representation of fraternal organizations nationwide, both as general and special counsel. In addition to our legal work, Manley Burke takes great pride in our active and enthusiastic involvement in a wide variety of public affairs and community service activities.
