Brendan is a nationally recognized lawyer focusing his practice on insurance recovery for policyholders, and on legal matters with significant insurance issues – such as construction, real estate, agribusiness, marine, environmental pollution, consumer protection, personal injury, and business law, to name a few.

Brendan spent more than a decade solely representing insurance companies before switching sides to solely represent policyholders.  He first worked as an agent for Safeco Insurance Company before attending law school.  He then worked in Safeco’s legal department while in law school.  After graduating from law school, Brendan climbed the ranks and became a partner at the international law firm Cozen O’Connor.  There he represented the world’s largest insurance companies in their most complex and high-stakes matters.

Brendan switched sides and joined Gordon Tilden Thomas & Cordell in 2017 because wanted to represent policyholders instead of insurance companies.  Brendan’s in-depth knowledge of the insurance industry has made him one of the most sought out policyholder lawyers in the Pacific Northwest.

Contractual allocation of risk, via indemnity agreements and insurance, is the cornerstone of the construction industry.  Often, however, the agreed-upon allocation is jeopardized by parties who fail to meet their contractual obligations. With their extensive experience in both construction and insurance law, the attorneys at GTTC are uniquely qualified to hold contracting parties and insurance companies to their contractual bargains.

GTTC has partnered with countless owners, developers, contractors, and design professionals to enforce contracts and insurance policies in projects ranging from single family homes to the largest and most complex construction projects in the Pacific Northwest.

At GTTC we limit our practice to complex civil litigation and trial work. Our practice focuses on insurance recovery, general commercial litigation, and serious personal injury claims, both for plaintiffs and defendants.

We foster a culture of excellence based on two principles: preparation and judgment. We prepare every matter, from the beginning, on the assumption it will be tried to verdict. Viewing the case through the lens of trial serves our clients well, whether or not the case ultimately is tried. The GTTC lawyer you hire is the lawyer who does your work. We consciously avoid the “pyramid” model of many junior lawyers reporting to a few senior partners. Our partners roll up their sleeves, do the work, and know the facts and law, period.

A lawyer’s greatest asset is his or her judgment—that which is earned predominantly by standing in court, presenting evidence, and persuading judges and juries. We do this every day by focusing on our client’s ultimate objective and avoiding minor but costly battles that do not advance that objective. Our 24-year track record has proven the value of this approach to our clients. GTTC provides litigation and insurance policyholder recovery and coverage advice services to a broad spectrum of clients from FORTUNE 50 corporations to startups, government entities, not-for-profit organizations, and individuals.
